Sometimes an article pops up online that fits perfectly in this blog. Marc Saltzman wrote one on Windows shortcuts that every Windows computer owner needs to read.
Here are a few gems:
1. Windows Key (by itself)
This launches your Start menu, instead of having to click the lower left-hand corner of your screen. Here you can search for a word in the query window, access your Control Panel, documents, media and programs. Or it can be used to quickly log off or shut down your computer.
2. Windows Key + E
This opens up your Windows Explorer program, which is a convenient way of looking at your computer’s drives (e.g. C:, D: and E:), folders (e.g. Documents) and files (such as Invoices.xls).
3. Windows Key + D
This minimizes all open programs/windows and shows your desktop screen. (Great as a “Boss is Coming!” key in case the Big Cheese is approaching during Facebook snooping or a game of Solitaire). Press the Windows key and D again to maximize the windows again.
