Differences between Windows and Macs

Have you jumped to the Mac? Feel like you’re floundering?

You aren’t alone. The interface – the minimize buttons, the keyboard, even file icons – seems to confuse people for the first week or two after they abandon a years-long relationship with Microsoft Windows.

Apple answers common switcher questions and provides a useful video overview on its website.

But this isn’t always enough.

These handy videos explain common “switcher” mistakes from the Windows point of view. Sure, they miss quite a few mistakes (and there’s some redundancy between the two), but they hit major sources of confusion for Mac newbies.

If you’ve followed my blog for any length of time, you won’t be surprised to learn that I subscribe to a video podcast called MacMost Now. Check out a few episodes online at macmost.com. This fellow’s knowledge seems encyclopedic, and you could spend quite a while learning stuff from his site.

Before you do that, here are two podcasts you must watch to really understand the power of your Mac.

  1. Great post, Luigi!

I converted from PC to Mac 3 years ago, but I know there is still much on the Mac for me to learn. Not living near an Apple Store made it more difficult to get at-my-fingertips help. I really appreciated the Apple Care that I’ve had over the past 3 years. That’s finished now, but in the meantime, they’ve built a couple Apple Stores in Winnipeg, so I can now go there for help.

Thanks for the info about MacMost as well. I’ve bookmarked the site, and yours, of course!
