LinkedIn polls

Suppose you’re looking for insight on how best to achieve a business or career goal. Goals might include:

  • gauging interest in a new product or service you’re developing
  • ranking different products or services available to you
  • finding out which job-search strategy would work best in a given situation

Can you phrase your question as a simple poll? If you can, try sending that question to your contacts, and out to LinkedIn at large, using a LinkedIn poll.

You can create polls from your own profile as well as within groups. You can share results of your polls with your contacts, as well as on Twitter and Facebook.

To create a LinkedIn poll, follow these steps.

  1. Once you’ve signed on to LinkedIn, use a web browser to visit  http://polls.linkedin.com.
  2. In the resulting window, click the + Create a new poll button.
  3. Complete the fields as instructed.
  4. Click the Create Poll button.

LinkedIn offers tips on how to create a poll in its help page called Polls – Best Practices: What are some tips for creating a successful poll?
