Add a paragraph to a Word list item

At times, you may need to add a paragraph to a list item but you don’t want the second paragraph to automatically receive a number or a bullet. For instance, you might want to explain something further about the first paragraph using additional words or an illustration.

To add an extra paragraph to a list item, use the List Continue style. The list would look something like this example.

  1. This is the first item in the list.
  2. This is the second item.
This paragraph explains the second item further – it’s formatted using the List Continue style. (Italics added for emphasis only.)
  3. This is the third item.
