Press release: Nitro wins MDS outsourcing contract

Ottawa, February 1, 2007 – MDS Incorporated, a leading contract pharmaceutical and biotechnology research company, has signed a three-year contract with Nitro Microsystems Inc. to provide on-site level two desktop computer support and level three network server support across Canada.

In eight offices across Canada, 2,700 MDS computer users rely on Nitro personnel to service the data network MDS staff uses to collaborate on important innovations and improve the health of Canadians coast to coast.

“We were given a very short window – 45 days – to transition support services from the previous provider,” said Robert Munn, Vice President of Technical Services for Nitro. “MDS is Sarbanes-Oxley and FDA-compliant, so we had to train our staff on these factors as they learned the MDS environment and procedures.”

This contract strengthened the Nitro-MDS relationship. Nitro has served MDS Nordion, a subsidiary of MDS Incorporated, for more than nine years. “When they looked at remodelling their deskside services, the global model they chose was based on the work Nitro does for MDS Nordion,” said Munn.

“The transition to Nitro was a non-event,” said Munn, quoting comments from a conference call held days after the transition and attended by site authorities from the eight different offices and decision makers from MDS Corporate.. “In project management or project transition, a non-event is exactly what you look for.”
